How to Maintain Teak Wood Outdoor Furniture

28 Νοέμβριος 2023 TIPS
Outdoor furniture made of wood requires care and regular maintenance to keep it as intact as possible over time. Do not forget that wood is a living organism that is affected by the environmental conditions prevailing in the place where it is placed. Wood is a natural product that can expand and shrink under different weather conditions. This may lead to micro fractures in the wood which is perfectly natural. A usual problem that someone has to deal with is a wine stain or black spots from excessive moisture on a wooden surface.

Let's now see how we can remove this stain from a tablechair or any other piece of furniture made of teak wood.

Step 1
Clean the stain thoroughly with a dry towel.
Step 2
Cover the metal parts, if any, with tape to protect them from any scratches.
Step 3
Lightly and carefully sand the stained area with fine sandpaper. The stain will gradually disappear and the wood will look as before.

The same process can be followed if your furniture has black spots due to excessive humidity. We recommend a gentle sanding of the surface layer annually. This will ensure the preservation of the original color of the product.

Maintenance of Outdoor Furniture Made of Teak Wood

Over time, natural Teak wood that does not have any paint treatment such as varnish, oil, etc., when exposed to weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, etc., that is, it is unprotected outdoors, changes color depending on the environmental conditions prevailing in its installation area. In this case, we can again follow the above steps to restore the teak wood to its original, natural color.
We recommend that you store the furniture during the winter season. This is preferably done in a dry and unheated room.
